Day Two of Re-Designed Lesson:
Objective: Students will read nonfiction books and visit informational websites in order to note key details about an animal's appearance, diet, and habitat.

1. We discussed what "research" means and why it is important to research different topics.
- I explained that to research a topic means that you are finding out information and learning more about it.
- I stated the objective, and explained that we will be focusing on 4 different categories when researching our animals: what the animal looks like, what the animal eats, where the animal lives, and interesting facts about the animal.
2. The class visited the school library to find nonfiction books about their animals.
- At the library, students found books related to their animal.
- Since some of the students had chosen the same animal, those students worked in pairs or in groups when finding books.
- The class took their books back to the classroom. With their group, or on their own, they read through the books and recorded notes on their worksheet (found below, only the first two pages).
3. After finding information in the books, students used PebbleGo and World Book Online to continue their research.
- Before visiting the sites, I taught students how to use the search bar to easily locate information specifically about their animal.
- Students continued to add notes to their worksheet while they explored the sites.
